THE WORD OF GOD, MY LIFE BUOY

There are times we can go through life for long periods of time and feel everything is going wonderful. Then one day we look around and wonder how we ended up where we are. We are able to look back and see that indeed we have wandered too far in the wrong direction.

We don't intently set out to wander away from the Lord's presence.  But many of you are like myself and find one day that you have drifted. Many times we get caught up with our jobs, our families and our friends to the point that we don't realize we are drifting away. It is such a slow process sometimes that it catches us off guard.

I remember a song that my children learned at a very young age. God's love is like a circle, a circle big and round, for when you see a circle no ending can be found.......... We see that God's love is eternal. It never ends and if you find that you have wandered too far from the Father, look around for your life buoy, the word of God, and ask the Lord to draw you back to himself. He is waiting earnestly for you to return.

One reason we don't need to drift away from the Lord is Satan is lying in wait. He delights in seeing God's children fall into his evil traps.

I Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant;
because your adversary the devil,
as a roaring lion, walketh about,
seeking whom he may devour:

Once we have drifted and recognize it, we need to reach for the life buoy, the word of God. In the scripture below we see that the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous. Our response should be to set our eyes on the Lord. If we are trying to get back to the Father, we shouldn't fix our eyes on anything else. Taking our eyes off the Lord for a moment causes us once again to drift away.

If you are willing to fix your eyes on the Lord, he will guide you through the roughest storms of life. Jesus said, "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.  I have found in my writing that if I focus on anything except for him, things get distorted.  If I keep my eyes on the Lord and he is guiding me, then the words that come out on the blogs will be things from his heart.  The word of God, our life buoy is essential for our survival.

II CHRONICLES 16:16-17
The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous,
and his ears are open unto their cry.
The face of the LORD is against them that do evil,
to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth,
and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart;
and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
