REPOTTING YOUR FAITH

Have you ever noticed a plant in a small flower pot? It can grow and be beautiful but will only grow so far. There comes a time that the roots get root bound and the growth is halted.
Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. (Colossians 2:7)
For many years I had plants and didn't understand the concept of repotting. I didn't consider that it needed fresh soil or a larger pot in order for them to flourish and become healthier plants.
Sometimes we are like these plants. We need to repot our faith, remove it from its original container – shake the old soil loose. We need to study the scripture and put new soil around our heart.
Why not go on a shopping spree through the scripture and find new soil today? Many of these scriptures you have used for twenty years. They are great scriptures, but it's time you find some fresh ones. Plant your faith in something larger than you have ever done before. Go ahead, try it!
Your faith may have previously been placed in the smallest container possible. Maybe you have found that you can trust God with the little things in your life, but are having trouble allowing him to handle the bigger things.
It's easy to trust him in areas that are going smoothly; however, trusting him in rougher areas is much harder.
Make a list of areas where you need to have a greater faith. Set your heart in those areas and watch your faith grow.
And he said unto them, where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him. (Luke 8:25)
(For we walk by faith, not by sight:) (II Corinthians 5:7)
