Have you read
the article or seen the video about the whale shark? It was in the waters near
Socorro Island, about two hundred fifty miles south of Baja.
The
pregnant shark became entangled in a very heavy duty rope. The rope had cut
away at its flesh to the point the shark seemed to be giving up the battle for
life. There were deep gashes where it appeared that it had wrestled for quite
awhile to free itself. Its fins were greatly damaged from this struggle,
leading it to give up the fight.
Some local
divers as well as many tourists were greatly concerned about the shark's
survival. As the divers began to cut the tangled rope, the whale seemed
motionless. The instant one of the divers released the ropes from around the
fins of the whale shark; its life was renewed and immediately it swam away.
This story
reminds me of not just one or two, but millions that have been entangled with
the chains of Satan. Are we going to just leave them this way and let Satan
suck the life out of them or go to the necessary depths to see that they are
set free?
Jesus
didn't just call Isaiah. He is also calling each of us to help free the captives.
May the Lord enlighten our eyes to see those in need of the Savior, in chains
of darkness, needing to be set free.
The Spirit of the
Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings
unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim
liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To
proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God;
to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion to give unto
them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for
the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the
planting of the LORD that he might be glorified.
(Isaiah 61:1-3)
