Looks like school has started back up and with that occurring the children flood in on Wednesday nights. Our attendance has been lower since before Christmas with everyone out of school and taking vacations and with so many being ill.
As I looked out over the playground area
last night I could see we were definitely back into the swing of things. The
new slide James Cotton built over the holiday season now had ten or twelve
children lined up taking turns going down. The swing set had children in each
section swinging and trying to see who could get the highest. The merry go
round was packed to its maximum and maybe a few beyond. The monkey bars were in
use with the new safety mats underneath for the kids to land on and the
basketball goal, volleyball net and tether ball quarts were swinging into full
action. It was plain to see there would definitely be more than one hundred
kids there tonight.
What a blessing to look out and realize only
two years ago we had about ten to fifteen children and teenagers attending and
now there is over one hundred attending. Nothing in our services had changed
and yet it seemed overnight the children started attending faithfully. The Lord
opened the door and beckoned them to come and they did.
Being one hundred percent sure that the Lord
has beckoned many adults also to get back into the swing of things and to
attend we realize not everyone is listening to that call. There are many who
have gone five, ten or fifteen years without attending a place of worship. The
scripture tells us the harvest is plenty but the workers are few. We have seen
this a few times during the ministry but never have we seen it as true as it is
in our church today.
What will it take for you to get back into
the swing? Most of the time it's attending once or twice that helps us format
the pattern and get us back into the habit. Somewhere over the years that habit
was broken and now it's more difficult to get back into church because of the
broken habit. Maybe it's time to call in the repairman to fix the swing.
Whatever you need to get back into the swing of things, be sure and take the
time to do so. You are missing out on a
tremendous blessing by not being with God's people and experiencing what the
Lord is doing in and through the young people in America today.
Last night pulling away from our church
building I realized that the growth in these children's lives and their excitement
is something my heart desires to continue to see. What a blessing it is to be a
part of such a wonderful thing the Lord is doing among us.
And Jesus
went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and
preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every
disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with
compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep
having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is
plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the
harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.(Matthew 9: 35-38)
