ARE YOU SETTLING FOR SECOND BEST?

Photo provided by BeckyWhiteman-Sparks

This morning as I was dressing for work and
praying the thought came to me that
I had heard repeatedly growing up.
The saying was, "Take time to pray".
and "Take time to be Holy".

The more I pondered on this thought,
the more I realized that we
shouldn't take time to be
Holy or take time to pray.

What we need to be doing
is; being Holy as God is
Holy and praying without
ceasing.  These are two
areas in our lives that
need to flow constantly as
the water flowing down
a river.

When you stop the water from
flowing down the river, someone
is going to have to do without.
The same is true in our lives,
if we stop the flow of
prayer, there are peoples
lives that will be affected.
If we stop being Holy,
it will affect our lives and
the lives of many others
around us.

I have experienced this
myself as others stop
serving the Lord and
living their lives for
themselves, many times
it has affected my life.

Why do we feel it so
difficult to pray without
ceasing or be Holy as
God is Holy.

I personally feel it is due
to the fact that we try to
make it harder than it is.

Prayer is a continual
adoration and expression
to God about what is going
on in our lives.  We express
ourselves very well to people
all day long, everyday and
feel awkward when we start
expressing our adoration
to the Lord on a continual
basis.

Is this because we were
taught to be so busy in life
that we must take time to
pray?

We need to make a conscious
effort to do the opposite.  Let's
take time to neglect all the
things that fill our schedule
and fill it with praying
without ceasing and taking
the time to be Holy.

When we do so, the joy
and continent from our own
lives will flow over onto the banks
and the people we come in contact
with will become refreshed and
desire to sit by the shores and
drink from the waters we
have chosen to drink from.

Pray without ceasing.
I Thessalonians 5:17

But as he which hath called you
is holy, so be ye holy in
all manner of conversation;
Because it is written,
Be ye holy; for I am holy.
I Peter 1:15-16
