THE DAY MY KITE WOULD NOT FLY

Photo provid by Pennie Saum

Have you ever gone outside and tried to fly a kite?  This can be such a wonderful thing.  A few weeks ago we took our grandchildren out to fly a kite and their eyes were filled with excitement as it soared high into the sky.

A few days after our kite flying experience, I was driving  down the road and Emma ask me, "MeeMee, is there a God".  Of course my immediate response was yes.  The next question was a little more difficult. "MeeMee, how do you know there is a God?"

There are some days we go outside to fly our kite and there is no wind.  Does this mean that the wind has left forever?  Does this mean that the wind never existed before?  Does this mean my kite will never fly again?  What does this mean?

God is like the breeze.  Sometimes we don't know He is there.  We can't feel Him.  Our hearts begin to panic and think that He has abondoned us.  Does He not know that I need to see His presence?

Just as confident as you are that there is still air to breath, and just because you don't feel the breeze you know it hasn't left for good, you can also be confident the Lord is not going to leave you.  We all tend to have faith in the air we breath and the wind that blows, yet when it comes to God we tend to struggle with faith in Him.  This is something that I've struggled with when I'm going through great trials or seasons of loneliness.  Be assured, He has promised to never leave us or forsake us.  He is as constant as the air we breath, even when we don't see Him or feel Him.  He knows our name and He loves us.

If you feel He has abandoned you, by faith you can know that once again you will feel his presence but until that day keep trusting and breathing the calm cool air he has provided as a reminder that He is our great God, our Redeemer, our Savior and our Lord.

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed;
For I am thy God: I will strengthen thee;
yea, I will help thee;
yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand
of my righteousness.
(‭Isaiah‬ ‭41‬:‭10‬ KJV)

The wind bloweth where it listeth,
and thou hearest the sound thereof,
but canst not tell whence it cometh,
and whither it goeth:
so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
(‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭8‬ KJV)
