JESUS STOOD AND CRIED, SAYING

Photo provided by Heather Heathcoat

Yesterday driving home from work I was praying. It concerns me that many I am talking with seem confused about Christ, the great Shepherd.

I have been praying how to really hear that great shepherds voice, correctly.

When my children, two boys and three girls, were at home, they would go down the street to play.

They always knew how far to go by my whistle. If they were ever too far and I whestled (which I can whestle very loud) they knew they were in trouble, if they didnt come because they had gone beyond my call.

As I was driving home praying the instrumental song came on the radio, "I need thee every hour".

Instantly, my heart was taken back to some sweet sweet memories of this song. As it played, I walked through the pastures of life in my mind and knew the moments I had strayed. As I continued to walk, the pastures became rich in places and dry and barren in places and my heart was saddened.

Then my heart stopped in this one place inside the pasture and rested in the stillness and the great shepard said, "You were close enough to hear me when I called.

The great Shepherd says, "Now, be still and know that I am God, and can care for your deepest needs.
