A few years ago our family was trying to teach
our youngest grandson how to say more when he
wanted more food. We thought this little guy loved
food more than anything other than ducks, which
he was consumed with. We had spent months
trying to teach him how to say more in sign
language and he just wasn't responding to it
like our grand-daughter had when she
was young.
One evening as I was playing with him before
his bedtime I was kissing him all over his little face.
When I stopped he sat up and told me "more" in
sign language for the first time. This started
about a three to four minute game which we
captured the end of it on video.
As I was driving to work yesterday I began
to ponder my walk with the Lord. There
have been times that I was a Sunday School
teacher and I loved it, There were times I worked
at the Baptist Student Center and Associational
office and I loved it. There were times I kept the
nursery and I also loved it but then when I began
to meet people daily and give them a copy of Digging
a Well or the Devotional book, I became like my
little grandson and a passion broke forth from my
heart and I could only ask for more.
Have you found your passion or are you just
satisfied enjoying what you are doing. There is a
huge difference. You might say, I can't find my
passion because I am having to work a full time
job, take care of my children, take care of
grandchildren, or take care of my husband.
I can truly say that you can still find your
passion. The busiest, roughest time in my
life when everything was falling apart
and I had no time to go out and find
my passion is when my passion found me.
"Wait, Watch and Pray"
this is my motto
Wait, Watch and Pray about the things that are
around you and ask the Lord to help you find
your passion in the midst of your everyday life.
I see on Facebook and with the people I talk to
daily that they have a burning in their heart or
they have a desire they can't fulfill. They are
trying to fulfill it with wordly things that only
temporarily satisfy, but when you find your
real passion and it is in line with the Word or
God, then your heart, soul and mind all line
up together and you can only cry out for more.
Who knows, he may choose to grow it from
that small passion that you begin to do daily into a
large passion that you can do every day of the
week. As for now, I still have a full time job,
But your passion could out grow your job
and mine could too some day.
I still play the piano at my church and build
the PowerPoint for the worship services, I still
have all my wonderful children and my beautiful
grandchildren that I keep once a week. I still cook,
sew, teach piano and in the midst of all those
things I am able to plant seeds and help cultivate
them for the glory of the Lord. I give anywhere
from two to five books per day away and have
gotten to watch the Lord open the windows
of heaven moment by moment, one step at a time
as I flourish in my passion and he opens the door
for it to grow deeper each day.
Do you want more?
Then ask for it!
