EVER LEARNING; NEVER COMING TO KNOWLEDGE

Photo provided by Darry Poss

Ever learning, and never able to come
to the knowledge of the truth. Now as
Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses,
so do these also resist the truth: men
of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning
the faith.  But they shall proceed no
further: for their folly shall be manifest
unto all men, as theirs also was.  But thou
hast fully known my doctrine, manner of
life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity,
patience, Persecutions, afflictions, which
came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at
Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but
out of them all the Lord delivered me.  Yea,
and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus
shall suffer persecution.  But evil men and
seducers shall wax worse and worse,
deceiving, and being deceived.  But continue
thou in the things which thou hast learned
and hast been assured of, knowing of whom
thou hast learned them;   And that from a
child thou hast known the holy scriptures,
which are able to make thee wise unto
salvation through faith which is in Christ
Jesus.  All scripture is given by inspiration
of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness: That the man of God may be
perfect, throughly furnished unto all
good works.

ARE YOU HEEDING THE ROAD SIGNS?

Photo provided by Darry Poss

This know also, that in the last days perilous
times shall come. For men shall be lovers of
their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud,
blasphemers, disobedient to parents,
unthankful, unholy,  Without natural affection,
trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent,
fierce, despisers of those that are good,
Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of
pleasures more than lovers of God;  Having
a form of godliness, but denying the power
thereof: from such turn away.

WHEN YOU'RE AGAINST THE WALL WILL YOU STICK?

Devotion provided by Steve Long

They say you can tell when spaghetti is ready to serve by one simple test. Boil the pasta noodles for maybe eight to twelve minutes. Test the spaghetti by throwing it against a wall. If it sticks, it’s ready.
So, my question for you is this: When you find yourself against the wall, do you stick?

All of us face adversity and trials in life – no matter who we are; rich or poor, dark or light, male or female, young or old, educated or illiterate, brainy or mentally challenged, strong or weak.

We all face challenges, difficulties and heartache. All of us have, or will at some point, find ourselves, like cooked spaghetti, with our backs against the wall.

There is a Mexican phrase which can be translated. “between the sword and the wall” or as they say, “Between the devil and the deep blue sea.” There are times in our lives when it doesn’t feel safe to move forward nor is it safe to retreat.

Christians especially should expect this. Jesus said; “in the world ye shall have tribulation.” (We’ll come back later for the rest of that bible verse.)

He also stated:
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.[i]
Peter, the Apostle of Jesus, said:
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:[ii]
The question is not “if” but “when” will I experience such trouble? At what point any of
us may find our backs against the wall, we cannot say.

How will we respond when such hardship comes our way?

We can respond with panic, anger, hostility, or bitterness. We can be like a dog that has been cornered – not a pretty sight.

We can cow down and curl up into a fetal position – that is – just give up.

Or – we can respond in faith. The rest of the verse I started above reads:
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye
shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.[iii]

This is the only way you will be able to “stick.” Many of us have seen those who started the race but never finished it.

We have seen soldiers of the faith who have gone AWOL whenever the battle ensued with great heat. Will we be a conqueror or a casualty when the going gets rough? Maybe you have lost some battles, but will you continue to fight the fight?

May we, like the Apostle Paul, be able to say in the end:
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.[iv]
Trust in Jesus. Stay in his word. Be filled with God’s Spirit. Walk in truth. Walk in love. Be faithful. Be steadfast. Love God. Love one another. Exercise your faith. Pray daily.

By doing so, you will be one who sticks when you’re up against the wall.

ETERNAL LIFE

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the
Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit
of wisdom and revelation in the
knowledge of him:  The eyes of your
understanding being enlightened; that ye
may know what is the hope of his calling,
and what the riches of the glory of his
inheritance in the saints,  And what is the
exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward
who believe, according to the working of his
mighty power,  Which he wrought in Christ,
when he raised him from the dead, and set
him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Far above all principality, and power, and might,
and dominion, and every name that is named,
not only in this world, but also in that which is
to come:  And hath put all things under his
feet, and gave him to be the head over all
things to the church,  Which is his body,
the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

SATAN IS NOT AN ENEMY WE CAN HANDLE

Satan is not an enemy we can handle …..
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;  And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;  Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

WHAT DOES YOUR ROOTS LOOK LIKE

Photo provided by Darry Poss

Thoughts by Becky Whitemans-Sparks
Woke early this morning, wanting to so I could spend some time in prayer on a difficult situation. As I lay in my bed, warm and cozy, my heart was broken and questioning. “Oh, Lord, how can this complicated situation be handled? Please, My God, fix this … step in and fix what no man on earth can.”
In that quiet, His Words began to come to me, Words that I’ve read over and over came echoing through my mind … “but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water (Jesus-the Living Water) that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.” OH, there really is nothing more beautiful and healthy than trees that are planted next to rippling streams of water. The fruit they bear is sweet and delicious.
You see, great trees have taproots which go deep in search of living water, water that will bring them great health. That is why you always see healthy trees next to streams or rivers, they know where their life blood comes from. But when that life blood is cut off through drought (cut off from God—no nutrients (the Bible), no communication (prayer) ,no fellowship, (other healthy Christians), or is damaged (Satan taking an axe and hacking away at it), or squeezed off (un-forgiveness), it is seriously damaged, at risk of death. (Hebrews 12.14-15 “Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no "root of bitterness" (spiritual cancer) springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled.)
This complicated situation is like a very unhealthy tree whose leaves are dropping so fast that you can’t help but know the tree is suffering greatly. Then, the Lord spoke to my heart showing me that the problem is not with the leaves … “They are simply symptoms of the problem … the problem is the tap root. It is not planted in Me. My living water brings love, joy, peace, goodness, gentleness, meekness, faith, patience and self-control. Until attitudes are changed (repented of-there is that old-fashioned word), the leaves will fall off, the branches will begin to harden and die only to be easily snapped off. The trunk will begin to slough bark and when the bark is gone … death is sure.”
Then My God led me to Matthew 18 … “The tree is being killed by an unforgiving heart. Satan is strangling it by wrapping barbwire around it, squeezing it, choking it, killing it. BUT, I as The Arborist, the Creator, can bring new life to the whole tree. I will renew the streambed (the relationship with Jesus) and cut away the issues that are killing the tree, which will include the tough times of pruning away the dying and dead branches. Health will return. I promise! It’s written in My Word.”
Then I remember an old cedar tree by our canal. Many years ago, a farmer had wrapped barbwire around it, using it like a post. Because it was by a healthy stream of water, it grew new bark over the wire and continued to grow and do well … it was a tree planted by living water (Jesus). Because it’s root was well established, it continued to thrive.
If you are struggling and the leaves on the tree of your life are sick and dying, the quickest way to regain health is regain your relationship with the Lord. It’s not changing those around you, or trying to control or manipulate their lives, it all begins with you and you accepting the reality that you need help and healing. Your healing will come when you deal with you … let The Arborist come in and do His work.

WHICH PATH ARE YOU ON?

Photo provided by Lynnette Payne

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide
is the gate, and broad is the way, that
leadeth to destruction, and many there
be which go in thereat:  Because strait
is the gate, and narrow is the way, which
leadeth unto life, and few there be
that find it.  Beware of false prophets,
which come to you in sheep’s clothing,
but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do
men gather grapes of thorns, or figs
of thistles?  Even so every good tree
bringeth forth good fruit; but a
corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit,
neither can a corrupt tree bring forth
good fruit.  Every tree that bringeth not
forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast
into the fire.  Wherefore by their fruits
ye shall know them.

WHAT CAN THE FISH OF THE SEA TEACH US

Last week as I was praying for many of my coworkers, and relatives, I asked the Lord why so many people are turning from their faith to other religions.  Why are they leaving the churches and why are they blending in with all their peers instead of taking a stand?

As I begin to pray about certain subjects I always start watching to see how the Lord might answer my question.

The first thing that happened was that I began to have interest is studying out different species of fish. Then, one day at work a coworker held up a book and it had a photo of a bear with it's mouth open and a fish going inside.  He said, "Some days we are the bear. Some days we are the fish."

As time went on there were several other things that came up about fish, so I decided I would dive a little deeper into the ocean and see why fish do certain things.

My reading revealed that when fish are greatly frightened they all join together traveling in a school as a protective defense.  The more the fish blend in with the group, the safer they feel and the safer they feel, the less alarm pheromones they emit out to each other.

The salmon is unlike any other fish.  It knows that to reproduce, it must not blend in.  It must not school with all the other fish, it must do exactly what it was created to do in order to reproduce and carry on the ecosystem.  The salmon has something built into them that with uncanny precision they return to the very same spawning ground where they were born.

Many changes take place in the salmon prior to returning to their birthplace to spawn.  They stop using their red muscles and start using their white ones.  The salmon loses it's silvery color and becomes a darkened color.  The males develop canine looking teeth and a hook in the mouth.

Skilled predators such as eagles and bears wait patiently by the streams during the fall right when the salmon are swimming upstream to spawn, thus making their trip even more treacherous.  Not only do the salmon swim upstream but to get past raging waterfalls, they have to fight the current and jump many times up to 12 feet in order to keep swimming upstream.

The male salmon start changing and usually get a hump on their back thus making them more vulnerable to predators which protects the female salmon.  They don't swim lower than the females but higher, knowing that if the predators spot the female they will not be able to reproduce and carry on the species.

The salmon understand that in order to keep their species alive, they must go against the flow and not with the flow.  They must fight to get upstream and they must become stronger and tough enough to bypass the otters, eagles and bears.  They must pay attention to their sense of smell and keep moving upward to survive.

As I read about these fish, I realized more keenly that our younger generation is possibly filled with not only fear but great fear.  They are doing all they can to blend in and swim with the group so they will not be singled out.

This makes sense, for I have, many times also felt the pressure to be like the crowd. I am tempted to go with the  flow, talking of yoga, meditation, and movies such as Harry Potter or Star Wars. "I should even quote Yoda to fit in."  "Just blend in. Don't stand out and be different as it makes others uncomfortable." It also makes me uncomfortable.

But to carry on our heritage – our godly heritage, we must stay different.  We were born with a sinful nature and redeemed through the blood of Christ.  We were raised to stand for the truth of the Word of God.  So let's make the trip upstream instead of blending in with everyone who is filled with fear.

DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF GOD

Early November Digging a Well received a call to send 100 bibles to Nigeria. When the call came through, I told my friends we would pray about it.

When I hung up the phone, I said to myself, "There is no possible way Digging a Well can send 100 bibles to Nigeria in such a short time frame.

Because
  • My faith isn't strong enough to believe we can accomplish this
  • Funds were nearly nothing this entire year
  • Fundraising takes time and energy and I have none
  • Order bibles, shipping and getting to our contact people takes a lot of time
The second or third day after receiving this call, as I was driving home from work, I felt the Lord remind me how little faith was and that I should at least try the Lord and see if his power was great enough to supply such a large demand for the ministry in such a small window of time.

Within the same week, we had 100 bibles sitting on the doorstep of my house and on Sunday of that same week, we met the family traveling to Nigeria and supplied them with the bibles.

When you serve a God far greater than your tiny faith, he is able to break down the walls and cause great things to happen, teaching our own faith to grow as we exercise it.

Shown below are a few of the photos we received from the trip to Nigeria.

What a mighty God we serve.

BEHOLD, GOD IS MY SALVATION

Photo provided by Scott Long

Behold, God is my salvation; I will
trust, and not be afraid: for the
LORD JEHOVAH is my strength
and my song; he also is become
my salvation.  Therefore with joy
shall ye draw water out of the
wells of salvation.  And in that day
shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call
upon his name, declare his doings
among the people, make mention
that his name is exalted.  Sing unto
the LORD; for he hath done excellent
things: this is known in all the earth.

WANT TO LIVE IN OUTER SPACE

A devotion by Steve Long

How would you like to travel through space to live on another planet somewhere? We are told that Earth is “overpopulated and fragile,” and that human population should not remain confined to one single planet.

A planet was discovered several years ago in the constellation Libra called Gliese 581 C. It is considered by scientists to be “habitable”.

They say the earth is about 8,000 miles in diameter pole to pole. This planet is about 12,000 miles across.

Our Sun is calculated to be approximately 93 million miles away. Gliese 581 C, they say, is only six million miles from the star it orbits. However that star is a “red dwarf,” which is much smaller and colder than the sun. Therefore we are told the temperatures there probably range from 32 to 104 degrees F. That sounds a lot like Texas to me!

It is thought this “super earth” is perhaps made mostly of rock, but may even be covered in water. Scientists say this would allow a climate where water would not be so cold that it freezes or so hot that it boils. Water there would be liquid, which is a necessity for life as we know it. Right now though, we don’t even know whether there is one drop of water there.

This is certainly the kind of stuff to all a scientific mind go wild with imagination!

A radio beam was aimed at this planet in 2008 to send 501 text messages that were thought important to any being out there which might be able to receive the signal. That signal should arrive there in the year 2029.

But before you get ready to take the next flight to Gliese 581 C, consider some realities first.

Astrobiologists have calculated that the planet has about double Earth’s gravity. Any creatures living on this Utopia would therefore be twice as heavy as they would be on Earth. So much for that Weight Watcher’s plan you’ve been thinking about!

It has been said that the planet we are considering completes a full orbit in 13 days. The upside is that you will be receiving a birthday card from Grandma about every two weeks. The downer is that some of you reading this would already be over 1,000 years old!

We are told that “super-earth” is located only 20.5 light-years away. It sounds like a trip to the mall, but since light travels at 186,000 miles per second, that means the newly found planet is in fact 120,000,000,000 (120 trillion) miles from where you live. I bet you don’t even have that many miles on your old Chevrolet!

The fastest that man has ever travelled in space, I think, is 25,000 MPH. at that rate it would take about 547,945 years to reach our destination. That’s about 10 times the history of the human race. Keep in mind that this is one of the “closer” heavenly bodies outside our solar system. Let’s say a society wanted to try to reproduce itself on the way to this planet. It would take 14,000 generations to reach their new home. What if you arrived and found the place uninhabitable? What if you returned to earth and it was gone? What if you got back and someone by then had learned to travel at the speed of light?

But wait? There is a better plan! Jesus said,
"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know."

Thomas said to Him, "Lord, we do not know where you are going, and how can we know the way?"

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.[i]

Wow! Talk about space travel! We are told in the bible that believers in Jesus Christ will be “caught up, to meet the Lord in the air.”[ii] It also says it will happen “in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye.”[iii]

How about this scripture?
Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."

Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful."

And He said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.
I’m planning on travelling through space to a habitable place, to be suddenly in the presence of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ to dwell in a place he has prepared for me. How about you?

WHO IS THAT IN THE WELL?

Today I find it fitting to tell you a story about my uncle Larry who lives in Tennessee.

I was speaking with my father this week and was told about an event in my uncles life that set him on the right path for the rest of his life that I had never heard before.  I called Larry this morning and spoke with him about the event.

Uncle Larry was a man who lived his life drinking and living as he desired.  He had become consumed with alcohol and living in the bars. He had many times been in great danger where shootings were taking place but it never shook his world enough to stop living a rebellious life.

Each time he would go to see my grandmother she would tell him he needed to get his life cleaned up and start serving the Lord.

My granny Creekmore never hesitated to tell her children or grandchildren that God was real and had the power to stop them in their tracks.  She was a song writer and wrote a song called, "Hezikiah".   One of the lines to the song was Hezikiah, Hezikiah get your house in order lest you die.

Uncle Larry living his life the way he seen fit, became upset with Granny Creekmore and even had gotten to where he didn't want to go back home because of her testimony of Christ.  When he did go to visit and would say things about a shooting he had seen, she would say, "Son, that was a close call, you better get your heart right.  God is trying to tell you something."

One day Uncle Larry was driving a buggy with horses across an area and suddenly the ground under the buggy was gone.  He had driven across an old well that had been covered up and suddenly he realized he was lying in the bottom of the old abandoned well with no way to get out. He could barely move as he had suffered many broken bones and the ribs being among some of the broken, he was in great pain.

When my grandmother realized her son had nearly gotten killed she became so excited and starting rejoicing, serious loud rejoicing.  Uncle Larry couldn't figure out why his mother was excited and rejoicing and had turned from a Southern Baptist woman into a Pentecostal one when she heard he had nearly been killed.

Granny stopped rejoicing and told Larry, "I was praying for you and told God to do whatever it takes to shake your world and get your heart right with Him.  Son, God has just shaken your world and it's time you get right because the next time he may just kill you if your not willing to listen."

Uncle Larry did get his heart right and is no longer an alcoholic living his life for himself but is a preacher of the gospel of Christ and prays with other people as they pray for their own children that God would shake their world that they may turn back to the Lord.

I have watched the Lord shake the world of many folks and them turn their heads away but there will come a day the Lord says, "It's time you get your house in order."

Do you find it fitting that without knowing this story we named our ministry many years ago, "Digging a Well"?

My grandmother was the inspiration of my life to keep on keeping on when things seem to be crumbling all around as she stayed around to see her children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren turn to God and serve him faithfully.

Prior to my mother taking her own life she spent about three weeks at our home in Colorado and she spent most of that time grieving over her family as she was watching them turn from God to living worldly lives.

She was raised in a home where alcohol played a big part of the family and she had watched her family fight and nearly destroy each other.  She had watched her father consume alcohol and died of kidney failure. She had prayed her entire adult life over her husband, siblings and children and suddenly she was watching her children turn away from God instead of turn to God.  This left her feeling as if she had wasted her entire life.

Instead of choosing to have hope, she made the choice to leave this world and all it's darkness because she didn't have the power to make change the people around her. She became so consumed with defeat, fear and despair that she left us and never seen the day when her family finally did turn to the Lord and started serving Christ. She never experienced the joys of watching her grandchildren grow up. She didn't stay around to pray over all of us for the years of trials we would go through.  She just checked out on everyone.

I also came to that crossroad as mid-life seems to be packed full of changes and defeat. Early in my life I did nothing other than train up my children in the path they should go day in and day out.  I didn't run around with other women and have fun or get consumed with TV, games or events.  I didn't work outside the home during their early childhood stages, I only focused on being a pastors wife who gave 100% of my time and devotion to my husband and children until my youngest son was in 5th grade and the other four were teenagers at which time I started working a few hours each day while they were in school.

As the adopted children and our own children began to leave home one at a time I was reminded a few times what a horrible parent I had been.

Being strict I could understand why they were angry and thus I turned my anger towards my husband who had set the rules very high for them to live under and not only did they begin to leave home but they didn't want to be a part of our lives and began to push away leaving me deeply lonely.

I watched my entire family crumble and found myself living the same life my mother had lived yet trying to write and give other people hope.

My marriage was broken and we had separated for years and then tried to mend it but still had segments in our relationship that was shattered and causing deep grief.

The crossroad I found myself at was, do I make the decision my mother made or do I stand and live like my grandmother did?

My granny, a lady who would make others angry because she believed so much in her God that she prayed daily for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to come to God and that He would put a hedge of protection around each of us, yet also would shake our world if we ever strayed outside of His will until we turn back to Christ.  Never leaving us to be fulfilled if we were living our lives in this present world of sin.

This particular day I found myself at the crossroads and I was in great despair and had wept for six or seven hours over feeling my husband didn't love me (even though it wasn't true) and my children had turned their own ways instead of turning to Christ.

I had written two books and people had even told me, "How can you write books about your heritage and see that four of your children have turned completely away from the faith showing training them in the way of the Lord doesn't always turn out so well?

All this began to eat away at my flesh and I got into my vehicle and drove for hours upon hours.  Not knowing where all I had turned and driven, as the tears flooded down my face I made my final decision.

I pulled into a parking lot, got out of my truck and walked into a store.  As stupid as it sounded I had decided today I was no longer going to live this way; defeated over my marriage and my children.

Today I would stop expecting my husband to love me the way I thought he should love me.  I would draw the line in the sand and say, whatever they do they are doing to the Lord and not to myself. Words and deeds can't hurt me and I will live with the power of Christ as a hedge around me and not become emotional over every little thing that comes against me, but will take those times to dig a little deeper. I will live in hope, knowing that God will be victorious over all our lives, though it not be apparent on this day.

Understanding these times are just wakes and as I ride the wakes there will be times I feel the waves will engulf me.  The waves will try to take my breath away but if I stand, it will be the ride of a lifetime.

As I walked up to the counter at the store; a lady was there and I said, this may sound totally stupid to you but I need to purchase a wedding ring.

She looked around and said, "Is your fiance here with you?"

I told her no, and she was puzzled as to why he wasn't purchasing the ring or at least come with me.  I said, "I was so defeated the last few hours that I wanted to take my own life as my mother had but instead I have made a very unusual choice.

I said, "I am here by myself to buy a wedding ring to wear that I can look at and be reminded that no matter what happens in my life that God is in control and I will not lose hope that he will intervene and turn my family around.  Though I may not see it as long as I live, may I have the faith that my granny had to know there is a God greater and more powerful than anything that I will face and he loves, loves, loves me.

The lady fell on the ground and started weeping and praying and weeping and praying.  When she got up she said, I came to work this morning angry because I live pretty far and my manager called and said he needed me for two hours today.  I told him I don't want to come to work for two hours because that doesn't pay my gas to the job and back home and I go to church every Sunday and he knows that and I can't believe he's calling me to come in.

The manager would not give up and said, I need you at the store for two hours today, no exceptions.  She said I have only been here a short time but lady I'm telling you that God himself sent you to this specific store today and sent me here also and I will be happy to help you select a ring of hope for you to wear.

We selected the ring and she gave me every discount she could find in the store and we talked for a long time about how the enemy desires to sift us but if we stand our ground and continue to have hope God will be victorious and she prayed victory over my life.

Four or five years has passed since that day and soon after that day God began to break down walls in Digging a Well Ministries and we have gone into more than seventy countries and have over 66 thousand hits on the blog.

Digging a Well Ministries found it's purpose and God has shaken some lives over the past few years. There have been some that changed and there have been some that have been shaken and they ignore the hand of God.

God will come back and He will shake them again. My prayer is that instead of having to dig themselves out of the well as Uncle Larry had to do, they will chose to dig a well so others may live and find real meaning and purpose in life.

As I was speaking with my uncle this morning I began to cry as I realized the power of a woman praying over her family. Through those prayers the gospel of Christ has spread so far and wide and though she never traveled the world, her prayers have and those prayers will continue to spread out further in the days coming as together continue to Dig a Well.

HOW SHALL WE ESCAPE

How shall we escape, if we neglect so
great salvation; which at the first began
to be spoken by the Lord, and was
confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
God also bearing them witness, both
with signs and wonders, and with divers
miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost,
according to his own will?

LOOK TO ME AND BE SAVED

Photo provided by Scott Long

Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the
ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is
none else. I have sworn by myself, the
word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness,
and shall not return, That unto me every knee
shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

Isaiah 45 21-22
